The reason there are two articles here is that one of the articles was removed; the first link is talking about that removed article, and the second link is an archived version of that very article. The awful Fox News article in question calls out the US Olympic Committee for being proud that we have sent our most diverse team to an Olympics ever, spanning race, genders, orientation, etc. Instead, it says we shouldn't be proud of this fact, we should just want to win. This notion is dangerous, it implies that just because we are proud of a diverse team means that these people didn't earn their merit. It is disrespectful to those athletes. Yes, I know this is a different take on a diversity assignment, but it is an equally important side to see. It shows what kind of thinking still lies in a deep portion of America's population. The article from the New York Times does counter the Fox article and criticize it for claiming we should change the motto to 'Darker, Gayer, Different,' but there is still so much work to be done.
